THE ORD PROTOCOL WAS UPDATED 3 DAYS AGO TO INCLUDE RECURSIVE INSCRIPTIONS..... WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? RECURSIVE INSCRIPTIONS OPEN THE DOOR FOR LARGER FILES, COMPOSABILITY, AND A WHOLE LOT MORE CREATIVITY w/ INSCRIPTIONS
Recursive Inscriptions allow new inscriptions to request data from other inscriptions. Unlike NFTS who use IPFS data, which is stored off chain, Recursions reference ON-CHAIN INSCRIPTIONS. ALL OF THIS IS STILL ON CHAIN!!!! BENEFITS OF RECURSIVE INSCRIPTIONS INCLUDE :
🔸 alleviating file size limitations
🔸 lowering inscription costs
🔸 immutable database of libraries
🔸 interactive components between different Ordinal collections & honestly I know the potential will continue to be unlocked Still confused? Lets look at some examples (remember this was only merged three days ago, so there will be alot more to see in the coming days) also make sure you are following @raphjaph & @rodarmor (click image below to be brought to the repo)
With Dimensions @OnChainMonkey is Utilizing Recursions, and will make three libraries available to all creators:
🔸 Compression
🔸 p5.js
🔸 Three.js
This means, you only have to inscribe code that references these inscriptions, saving data to Inscribe
Another early example is @GhostsBtc who built an HTML terminal that was an early form of Recursive Inscriptions.
All traits were inscribed in a single sat, and the resulting inscriptions referenced the OG on chain inscription.
As with everything Ordinals, we are building a Rocketship in Orbit, but you can already view Recursive Inscriptions on @ord_io (with ordinals (dot) com support coming soon!!
and the experiment you are viewing?
@OrdinalFomojis put 100 Fomojis on a single Sat --> they have mentioned this is part 1 so may be another great project to follow along for the possibilities with Recursive Inscriptions
For a more technical breakdown @RabbiGains shows you what you are looking at, and how to find it

A longer WHY by @LeonidasNFT ... (and a must follow for Ordinal Inscription Education)
TLDR :: everything on the internet is made up of pieces, and Recursive Inscriptions allow us to code inscriptions that puts the pieces together allowing for bigger, interactive, more complex & composable inscriptions all while being cost effective
